Meet the Coaches evening and presentation of £5000
Tuesday 13th February at the Signs and Designs restaurant.
Over 80 people attended another very enjoyable meet the coaches evening, we welcomed our special guests Daryl Powell, Danny Orr, Ryan Sheridan, Matty Crowther and Ben Cooper.
We started with the coaches review of pre-season training and the friendly games, all the coaches agreed that although pre-season was shorter it had gone well and the squad had worked hard. The feeling of Daryl was we were maybe one friendly game short and he felt that the late arrival of Luke Gale, MikeMcMeeken and Ben Roberts had affected the whole squad.
A few players have had minor operations and had come through well, Gadwin Springer being the only absent player at the moment. Ryan and Matty told us about the world cup experience they have had with Ireland and the England squads. Daryl then talked about the new signings and how he had signed players with potential and with hard work hoped to seeimprovement similar to players like Greg Minikin and Mike McMeeken.
Fitness and skill levels were discussed with Ben and Danny, both were very happy with how the squad is at the moment. After the break it was time for questions from the large audience, topics covered were full back position, Zac Hardaker, the England coaching job, A team rugby, the World club challenge, the effect of social media on coaching staff and
players, style of play, opposition teams, assistant coach procedures, the teams who will do well in 2018 and goals for 2018.
Daryl asked everyone to have patience, this season will be a different story, all the coaching staff were very confident with the squad and were looking forward to the rest of the season.
The CTSC made a presentation to Daryl of £5000, this will be used for Wire training equipment for the gym, performance and analysis facility for Coaches PCs. Daryl told the audience that the new software for the coaches would help when reviewing matches and bring a more professional edge to the analysis of individual and team performance.
This takes the total raised by the CTSC members since 2004 to a fantastic £82,647.58
Many thanks to everyone past and present, who has helped raise this money, a great effort.
We hope you can join the CTSC for 2018, details on www.ctsc.org.uk
Daryl thanked the members of the CTSC for all the hard work they do fund-raising and support they give to the club.
Many thanks to everyone who attended, we raised £241.50 on the night.
